Kittiens!

Last week the little boy who lives next door to the house of hope asked Regina if she had seen two little kittens around. He was very worried about HIS kittens because it had been so cold and the mom had moved them. Well we had not seen them but she told them we would keep a lookout. Last weekend I was at the house and on Saturday all the girls but one went on an 8 hour pass (due to their progress in the program) with their families. Well at 11am while we were making breakfast (I love my job) I put a bag of trash on our back deck. At 1230pm when the girl went to put it in a can we noticed it had already been torn open and there was bread and other trash spread across the deck. We were determined to catch this "monster." We set a trap of chopped potatoes, apples, and bread. Within 20min she spotted the culprit! not the monster we suspected but the neighbors black and white cat. Strange I thought for a pet cat to be eating out of our trash. We opened the door and it was gone within seconds. After finding out our monster was a cat, we decided to give the poor girl some tuna since her current diet was bread and potatoes. She was back in minutes and finished in seconds! In the next hour the girl at the house had to dump some bacon grease in the woods and while doing so noticed the mom sitting near the woods and then a small kitten! We had found them!!!! So we rescued the little guys....

Regina stopped by to pick up some Christmas cards we made for soldiers over seas and got to hold the little guys before our attempted return of the kittens.

Wall-E was a little dopey looking (on the left) but he was my favorite.

So after holding them hostage for 3 hours, we finally decided we needed to return them to the poor boy. We packed them up and headed over to the neighbors house. His mom opened the door and to our surprise after I proudly proclaimed we had found their kittens, she followed it by "those aren't our kittens, that black and white cat is wild...she has kittens all the time" eeeep! the little boy was a liar! After calling Regina...we decided the plan would be to put the lil guys in a box under the deck with a heating pad on low below the deck (it was to be 28 degrees that night) and hope for the best. We can't keep them inside thanks to out health inspector. Well the next morning the lil ones were gone...seems mama has hid them somewhere else but we have been feeding her faithfully ever since and watching her every movement!
