Halloween

Today was a very sad day for me. Today marks the first time in my life (23years) that I did not go Trick-or-Treating. =( The picture is actually from last year...I just needed to remember.

I was stuck closing tonight and speaking of work...I got the best complaint ever today! a lady called me to her table because she was ticked off that her food came out too fast! I repeated what she told me back to her...just in case I had missed something. But no...she was actually mad that her entree came out before they had finished every last chip in their spinich dip. She sent those entrees right back to the kitchen when they came out....and that is when she called me over. She asked me if there was any compensation...I said sure Ill take off that salad you didn't eat. That may have ticked her off even more. She ended up asking for her entrees again, which were now warm instead of hot, so they walked out. Usually we chase down our walkouts or call security...but in this case I was pumped to see her go. Besides I wanted to congratulate the cooks....this is the first time since we opened back in June that we have had the food come out too fast!!! I hope we get more like her.

Why?

Is it irony when the bar manager gets backed into by a drunk driver who just drank at the very bar she manages?
So last night around 12am a guest bursts through the doors asking who drives a 4-runner. I explained that I drove an escape...similar looking in the dark and far away...we asked why and she said it had just been backed into. I ran outside to see a large truck peeling away. I proceeded to run, followed by a batender down the street toward the exit I knew they would have to go out of. I caught up to them as they ran into the ticket booth but I wasnt quite fast enough...as I got close enough to see a license plate number they screeched around the corner and drove off. There were two other cars with them and we got both liscense plates. However when the cops got there, basically they said since we didnt get the liscense plate of the actual car that hit me, I was out of luck. There would most likely be no damage to the large truck since this was my only damage, so with no description of a driver....there is nothing to tie anyone to the hit and run. Yay for new cars and idiot drivers.

Eventful Day

So today was quite the eventful day. I got up at the crack of dawn so Amberlee and I could go on down to another wonderful ACA meeting. I was so worried about bringing Amberlee there after my last experience...ha ha ha....so I prepaired her the whole way there. I described every last detail so that she would be totally ready. Well turns out to be a really good meeting with no exciting stories to tell in the end. Maybe next time. Anyway so after that we headed over to the brea mall....and that's where I got the shirt =). After the mall we headed over to the new Super Target (on Whittier Blvd!!!). After our tour and a few purchases we headed over to Biola to see my X-roommate from freshman year at Western/Corban, Summer. We went to her studio and saw her art that she recently showed in New York! and then went and had Boba....a really nasty drink with slimy jelly balls in it.

I do want to share something from the ACA meeting though:
Children Learn What They Live
If a child lives with criticism, He learns to condemn.
If a child lives with hostility, He learns to fight.
If a child lives with ridicule, He learns to be shy.
If a child lives with tolerance, He learns to be patient.
If a child lives with encouragement, He learns confidence.
If a child lives with praise, He learns to appreciate.
If a child lives with fairness, He learns justice.
If a child lives with security, He learns to have faith.
If a child lives with approval, He learns to like himself.
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship, He learns to find love in the world.

SHHHH....

I still don't know who was snoring louder....

Slow Nights

So sometimes at work we do get a little bored....you know when its 3AM and you just doing the finishing touches on the cleaning process....so we found this in the back and got some servers to do a little posing.

Haunt

The whole costume thing is really catching on =). We weren't really sure what to expect last Friday and Saturday night with Haunt. Maybe we should have expected more. I had scheduled 3 bartenders, which is usually more then enough. I always have one come on at 5pm and 2 on at 6pm. This normally works because our bar has never done more then $1100 in sales on our busiest Friday night. Well...little did I know that by 5:30pm we would be 3 deep and our service bar would be averaging 3-4 drinks every 5min. We were holding our own but the later it got the busier we got and thanks to one of my bar tenders being an hour late with car trouble, I was in there barbacking for a few hours. It was ugly. We ran out of our ultimate glasses. Ultimates are our signature drinks...meaning also that they are the most popular. So we had to start serving the drinks in our plastic tumblers! Collins glasses served as shot glasses and beer was served in whatever glass was closest. We did over $2000 in sales in just 3 hours!!! This weekend will be ready for them! We've got more bartenders on eariler and more glassware =)

My Crazy Employees

Well tonight was my first Halloween Haunt night. We let our employees dress up on Friday and Saturday nights....so here are the crazy kids. I kept telling them I was dressed as a secretary but they didn't believe me. Tomorrow night I am going as an accountant.
