Birthday Suprise

Friday is Julie's birthday and as a present for her, one of her friends here in North Carolina helped our friend, Jody from Bellingham, WA come out for a surprise visit. So Julie's friend, Megan spent the night last night and we were to leave for the airport at 530am. Her cover was that she was going to breakfast for another friend's birthday and they wanted to be celebrating at the time of her actual birth-6am. (I know who would believe such a story). I didn't need a cover because I was just going to sneak off with her when she left. I didn't need a cover that is-until I opened my bedroom door at 530am to see Julie walking her friend out! She of course immediately asked what the heck I was doing up at 530am so I quickly told her work had called and I needed to go in someone hadn't showed up. So then I returned to my room to put on my work clothes while Megan went outside. I don't have Megan's cell number but I figured I would catch her outside in a couple of minutes. Julie came back upstairs and we started chatting for a few before I headed out. Well, when I got outside Megan had left not knowing I was still coming. So I went to my car then came back inside but knew if I went upstairs Julie would hear me since our stairs creak. So I made some coffee and laid on the couch until 7am!!!!! an hour and a half of torture! When they finally arrived the adventure became a success and Julie was truly surprised!

More random stuff.

The other day I was listening to a radio station similar to LA's 102.7 KIIS FM. You know one that plays the hip hop, the pop and some catchy alternative stuff. Well I was of course daydreaming and the next thing I knew the darn station was playing country music! this type of stuff would never happen in LA. Let's keep the country where it belongs-on its own station.

The front cover of the Raleigh paper last week had a story about the proper way to fry a turkey. I've definatly heard of fried turkey but I didn't know people did it. Ive heard its very good but man I was just picturing a 20lb turkey going into a whole lot of oil.

Muffins from starbucks contain 20 grams of fat. Thats like 2 grams every bite if you take small ones. Should I tell my roommates?

My Thanksgiving

-Got up at 11am! YAY!
-Ate Scrambled eggs and toast.
-Went to the apartment gym to run a mile and lift-upper body.
-Went to the Starbucks where my friend Alisa works to get a white mocha :) she happened to be getting off when I got there and wanted to go running-so we went and ran 2 miles!
-Alisa dropped me back off at Starbucks for my car and we went home to shower. She then picked me up again around 630pm for dinner with another family. Before getting to the house we stopped at her friends apartment to feed her two lab puppies and take them out to potty.
-Had dinner around 7:30 and settled down on the couch to watch Elf and nap.

Today I got to take home 12 muffins from Starbucks because the food shuttle won't be coming for food until Monday and "they would be bad by then" yay for free food!

Updates

*The roommates are out of town until Sunday. Actually they have been since last Friday!
*Yesterday I ran 3 miles with my friend Alisa! She also spent the night last night and we watched Girl Interrupted since she had never seen it.
*I got to work 41 hours last week!
*I will spend Thanksgiving with Alisa and some random family-her surrogate family.
*Ronda got me The OC Season 3 as an early Christmas present/Something to watch while I am here without the roomies! YAY!
*I've been watching 90210 re-runs yet it doesn't hold a candle to The OC, LOST, Dawson's Creek or even One Tree Hill.
*I am addicted to No Water Chai eggnog latte's although I try and only have them a couple of times a week.
*We had something called "Flurries" this morning. I don't really know what that means and I slept in until 10:00am. But its been freezing and rainy and windy all day.

Detective

Finally some excitement is beginning to brew around our apartment complex! That's right two days ago we were visited by a detective, one of Raleigh's finest. He was going door to door on our little street asking questions about a break-in that happened a few doors down. Then he began asking questions about our neighbors who are somehow always hanging out in the front door. So Julie went ahead and told him that we defiantly see a lot of cars coming and going along with a lot of hand shakes and mini-hugs. Somehow I think they won't be our neighbors much longer...Im just hoping for an exciting raid!

As for our safety, don't worry the detective made it clear that he doesn't often get called to the Edwards mills apartments, there are just pockets of problems....Apparently we are just living in one of those pockets! I love it! Feels like Im back on good ol Bonavista lane. ;)

Random weather but a fun weekend!

Saturday morning (well 11am) I went for a 2 mile run with a new friend that I met at church. It was a beautiful 80 degree sunny day. Reminded me of home. After our run we went to Mo's, which is like Chipolte (not as good though....shhhh). Then, since we both work at Starbucks we stopped into her store for a free drink. About 10min after she dropped me off my roommate, Julie called wanting to know if I wanted to go to Starbucks! I figured I might as well. So off we went and of course as we turn left instead of the usual right she suggests we try a new Starbucks, which is the one I was at 20min earlier! Eh. Oh well. So after coffee we came home to watch 2.5 episodes of The OC season 1. I have been educating her. At 7pm I was off to my young adults group to finish off the night....and wouldn't you know it, instead of the usual "steak n shake" they decided on Starbucks afterward!

This morning I was awaken by rain and as I walked to my car at 815am on my way to work I could see my breath. This did not remind me of California. I worked 7.25 hours today, which is a record for me at Starbucks! Kinda wore me out being on the bar the whole day, especially when so many people came in for hot drinks!

Surprise!

That's right...those of you who are faithful starbucks coffee drinkers know what Im talking about. Last night (Wednesday night) I worked from 10pm-230am with a few others turning Starbuck's into a winter wonderland! or at least making it look very much like Christmas is in a couple weeks. Apparently Thanksgiving doesn't really count in our mind. So if you haven't checked it out pay attention next time your in there...and appreciate it! Every one of those darn mugs and thermo things are individually wrapped!

Wednesday Night Primetime Crisis

What were they thinking? Yes we have a TV crisis at hand. Tonight at 9pm there will be 3, that's right 3 of my shows on at one time. To some this isn't a huge deal because most of my friends watch either One Tree Hill and The OC or LOST and One Tree Hill or some combo of the two. I unfortunately watch all 3!
With a DVR that only records 2 shows at a time I had to choose. And so the bottom of the 3 has to be One Tree Hill. Perhaps if they would have come into starbucks last week instead of sending their driver I would have chosen differently.
Although choosing to knock out one of the 3 was very hard for me and I don't want to do it again. I gotta ask the question...what were the OC people thinking? I mean come on. The show must be struggling in the ratings seeing as one of the main characters was killed off last season...so why put it against LOST? I mean its already against Grey's Anatomy every Thursday. Why painfully pit it against LOST especially during sweeps when LOST is airing its "Fall Season Finale." I love The OC which is why I am worried that it is doing things like this...I mean come on what is so great that's on Tuesday nights? or even Mondays? They need me.

Crazy Phone Call

So for the last week or two I have been getting calls from a number in Florida. I have never answered it because I usually just don't if I don't know who it is and they never left a message so I figured I didn't know the person. Well then Friday night I got a call from the number around 10pm so I answered thinking perhaps it was possible that I knew them. Well I was wrong it was a girl claiming to be from a credit card company. She told me I was selected to receive $500 in free stuff just for proving that I had an active checking account. Before I knew it she was rattling off my California address and asking if that was correct. Before thinking I began to give her my new address. She was very nice and told me my stuff would be on its way if we could just verify my checking account. She asked where I banked and I told her BB & T. Once I retrieved my check book she gave me the routing number and asked if it was correct. I told her it was and that was followed by a few seconds of silence. It was at this time that I realized she was waiting for me to read the next series of numbers. As it clicked what was going on I said "wait...you want me to give you my checking account number?" and she was like "yeah." I was like "no way ha ha sorry Ill pass on the free stuff." suddenly she became almost desperate as she tried to convince me that anyone could get their hands on my checking account number. That I probably wrote checks to the grocery store ect all the time (which I don't). I told her that was different because I trusted those places. She then asked what the problem was and started going off about the free gifts and how every girl needs to shop. blah blah blah. I didn't exactly want to make her angry since she had my address now so I was trying to get her off the phone. I told her when she called back I would give her my answer. She then said that her automated system picked places randomly and she didn't know if it would call me again. I said "well, you have been calling me all week!" and she was like "ahhh ahhh ahhh...." I said can I reach you at the number you called me from? she said yes to which I replied, "I will call you back if I want to give you my checking account number" she then said "fine" and hung up!

The best part is that she called back the very next day while I was at work!!!!!! how dense can you be? Some people amaze me. Anyway just wanted to share that and remind you to be careful there are a lot of stupid crazy people out there!

The UPS Man

So my sister informed me a couple of days ago that Jon had finished fixing my computer and that it should arrive in the mail on Wednesday. Well it didn't come so I knew it would be here today (Thursday). I decided I better stay downstairs because I wasn't sure if I would need to sign for it and didn't want to hastle with going to UPS to pick it up or whatever happens if your not there. So anyway I ran out of recorded shows to watch around 12 and decided to take a quick shower. When I got out I threw on some sweats and the first shirt I could grab, which happened to be somewhat too tiny for me. So with my hair wet, brush in hand, tiny stomach showing shirt, and sweats that were somehow still below the underwear line I decided I better open the door and leave just the screen closed in case the UPS man came. So as I run downstairs and open the door quickley to find the UPS man standing there...of course I gasped because he scared the crap out of me and of course he was probably in his 20s and not frightened because I am sure he had been knocking for a while. Im sure I was quite a sight at the wee hours of 1230pm!

Fall is a little behind here

Ok so I really wanted to get some good pictures of how pretty the trees are here but I tried to do that while driving and this is what happened. I will try and get some better ones this week sometime.

Look close at this one and you can see a bright red one down the road just past the yellow thing.
I find that the trees are not good for me because I spend more time looking at them and less time seeing the road!

I made coffee for Sophia Bush!!!!!

Yah so I am sad that most of you are probably saying who is Sophia Bush? and while your asking who that is let me add a few more names in: How about James Lafferty? or Lee Norris> or Bethany Joy Galeotti or I know...Chad Michael Murray....Or maybe if I use their other names: Brooke Davis, Nathan Scott, Mouth McFadden, Haley James Scott or Lucas Scott. Well if you haven't figured it out yet, which most of you haven't that is the cast of One Tree Hill. Ok so I didn't actually meet Sophia or Chad or any of the others but I did meet their driver. See they were filming a basketball game in the RBC center right near my Starbucks and apparently Sophia was craving the venti vanilla latte so they sent this guy to pick up the 6 drinks. I must admit I was way to excited for just meeting the driver but it was fun and I got to talk to him for a few minutes about how it all works. There about a month ahead of what we see on TV and film 12 hours a day for 5 days to get one show. I wonder why so many actors are on drugs? huh. Anyway so this guy then told me he worked on the set of Dawson's Creek and I about peed. Happens to be my all time favorite show! so we chatted about where stuff was filmed and I will be definitely be prepared to find more next time I am in Wilmington.
